The New York Times wrote today of A-Rod being reunited with his older brother after 23 years. After reading it, we now know that his sociopathy is a result of genetics, and not his Miami upbringing. That’s because his brother seems to be as smooth around people as the now-Yankee is.
Very few people call him V-Rod. Hardly anyone does, actually. Those who use that nickname with Lt. Col. Victor M. Rodriguez do so cautiously. “They do it in a very respectful way,” Rodriguez said. “They find the right occasion and the right context.”
Man, it sounds like the nickname we’d mostly use around him is “V-Gina.”
Seriously, if there was ever a case study that needed to prove being unlikable was a genetic trait, the Rodriguez brothers need to be the prime subjects. They’ve even got the whole faux-compliment thing down.
“If you put my career against his career, I think what he’s been able to do in his career is far more impressive.”
A-Rod surely ended that thought in his head with “Until I hit my 800th home run. Then he could liberate Iraq by himself, but I’ll still be number one in dad’s eyes.”
