Chivas de Guadalajara owner Jose Vergara wants to be the next big soccer tycoon. The owner of all things goat already instilled Chivas fever in Southern California, (but how hard is it to get a Mexican team to do well in ‘little Mexico’), and he’s now proposing to export his team to China. Plans are in the works to send the Chivas brand name to China in order to create a brand new second division team. We’re not sure how the team name will translate, (will there now be a Chivas float during the ‘year of the goat’ parade?), or if tacos de carne asada will export as well, but we think its a badass idea.
We are demonstrating that Mexico does not just export tequila and mariachis, but also football and Chivas.
So China, get ready for the Cancun spring break promoters to hit up your shores soon because adding football to the tequila and mariachi party is like a Mexican adding lemon and salt to an ice cold beer. It only makes it taste better.
