A-Rod's Premature Release During Anti-Climactic World Series Makes MLB Mad

Super agent Scott Boras’ announcement that Alex Rodriguez was opting out of his contract during the World Series has gotten major heat. Unfortunately for them, it wasn’t the kind they were hoping for. Instead of making Rodriguez’s revelation exciting, it made the two come off like a selfish children. And you know what corporate entities do when dealing with selfish children—yup, they tongue-lash them.

“There was no reason to make an announcement last night other than to try to put his selfish interests and that of one individual player above the overall good of the game,” [Bob DuPuy, baseball’s chief operating officer] said. “Last night and today belong to the Boston Red Sox, who should be celebrated for their achievement, and to the Colorado Rockies, who made such an unbelievable run to the World Series.”

We don’t see anything wrong with what they did. It’s like when you go to a boring party and someone tells a completely inappropriate joke. Everyone talks afterwards about how much of a jerk that guy was, but at least it got people talking about the party.
