Diego Maradona Faithful Make Documentary In His Honor. Say It Isn't So!

There must be something toxic in the waters of Britannia because a quintet of young Brits have made a documentary called “In The Hands Of God.” It’s all about freestyling, (soccer ball juggling a la’ awesome) and their inspiration is none other than Diego Maradona.

The premise is simple. The quintet relies on their performing skills to make some money in order to travel through the Americas, eventually coming face-to-face with Satan Maradona. Well, we hear only one of them gets there; and if we were really a bunch of a-holes we’d tell you exactly who.

We don’t really understand the fascination with Brits embracing Maradona because we can hardly gather enough logic to consider Mexicans praising Maxi Rodriguez, or Italians praising Zinedine Zidane. (Dodgers fans will never like Barry Bonds, and Boston Red Sox fans will forever loathe Bernie Williams). The trailer doesn’t look that bad, but we cringe (and semi-gag) when we hear some group of naive youngsters consider anything named Maradona as inspirational. One of the five shared a quick blurb about the ‘hand of god’ goal.

I thought it was brilliant. He was just cleverer.

This kid should be snagged and hung by his heels in Trafalgar Square. Peep the trailer.
