Top Docs In England Want To Ban Ultimate Fighting

We were incensed when we found out that the British Medical Association was trying to get UFC-type fights outlawed in England. There has always been a market for watching two people duke it out—whether it’s homeless people, women in some type of food product or heroes in Rio. We believe fighting with something on the line is one of the more poetic acts in sports, but try telling that to fancy-schmancy doctors like Vivienne Nathanson, head of science and ethics at the British Medical Association. She said:

“Ultimate fighting can be extremely brutal and has been described as ‘human cockfighting’. It can cause traumatic brain injury, joint injuries and fractures.
This kind of competition hardly constitutes a sport - the days of gladiator fights are over and we should not be looking to resurrect them.”

It’s ironic England is the one making so much noise about the violence. Anyone who has seen the blood spilled outside a London pub at 2 AM can understand why.
