As Long As Dana White Is Around, UFC Will Be In Our Lives Forever

Whoever bets on face-pounding behemoths not getting their way should watch out for a beating. Ultimate Fighting Championship boss man Dana White has come to terms with Spike TV to extend their contract with the network until 2011. That means we are guaranteed basic cable blood baths for the next three years. Here’s the lowdown on why we care:

  • Seasons nine through 12 of the highly successful reality series, “The Ultimate Fighter.” [Ed. Note: That’s almost twelve more seasons than any sentimental crap out there. UFC 1. Everyone else 0.]
  • Twelve live “UFC Fight Night” cards, hosted by Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg. Spike TV will telecast four per year. [Ed. Note: They air Wednesday nights @ 10pm. We’re calling in sick to work in advance.]
  • Two seasons of a new, weekly live fight series (details to be announced at a later date). [Ed. Note: Did they just fucking tease us? Dude, that’s naughty.]
  • Thirty-nine one-hour episodes of “UFC Unleashed,” hosted by Mike Goldberg, featuring the greatest fights in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, many of them never seen before on basic cable. Spike TV will run 13 per year in ‘09, ‘10, and ‘11. [Ed. Note: Even we don’t know if we can handle that much ass-whooping entertainment.]
