Does Phil Jackson need a time-out in his Zen-meditation room? It looks like the four-year Lakers coach lost it after a loss to San Antonio and decided to chide his team for the lack of, um, heterosexual blocking fundamentals.
“We call this a ‘Brokeback Mountain’ game, because there’s so much penetration and kickouts,” Jackson said. “It was one of those games.”
That is one image we never thought we’d have to imagine in correlation to a dribble-drive. This being professional sports, however, he decided to give maybe one of the best non-apology apologies we’ve ever heard.
“It was a poor attempt at humor and I deserved to be reprimanded by the NBA,” he said.Still, he couldn’t resist making another joke afterward.
“If I’ve offended any horses, Texans, cowboys or gays, I apologize,” he said.
We never thought he’d a apologize to cowboys before Mike D’Antoni.
