At a record of 7-1, you wouldn’t think the Green Bay Packers needed anymore motivation. Packers’ head coach Mike McCarthy revealed that he’s contacted ex-UFC fighter Randy Couture to give a nice little pep talk to his boys before their game with the Oakland Raiders on December 9th.

“…We got on to the subject of talking to the players and finding different ways to get your message across to them. I was telling Jay [Glazer] that one of the platforms we like to use is having guest speakers come and talk to the team about relevant subjects or themes…. We often talk to our team about being smart and tough football players … Jay recommended Randy as the perfect example of someone who could talk to our players about being smart and tough. His fights over the years exemplify this.”

If you take the Raiders’ reputation into consideration, shouldn’t every team take this approach? Will he start off with arm bar tutorials or go straight to heel shots to the temple? Who knows. But out of curiosity, what’s a roundhouse to an opposing quarterback’s head set you back in penalty yards these days?
