Former NBA most valuable sixth-man Toni Kukoc isn’t too hyped about the league he retired from. The former lackey of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen disclosed that professional basketball is heading down the poop shoot and he wants no part of it.
“The NBA is a league of selfish people and it is no longer a part of my life,” Kukoc said in the Jutarnji list newspaper. “Last year, I watched just three games of the Chicago Bulls.
“I hardly ever go to the United Center [home of the Chicago Bulls] because there’s little to see. It irritates me to see the poorness of the game of today and the lack of intelligence on the court.”
Does that intelligence pertain to knowing when to pass and when to shoot, or are we going for cumulative IQ here? Last we checked, Kukoc didn’t have a Ph.D in the sport. He added:
“There are too many selfish players in basketball nowadays. I could also have scored 30 points per game but, how many titles would I have won playing with that style?”
Maybe in the Euroleague? We’d try to console you by assuming Jordan would send a thank you card for all your years of hard word, but we’re not sure he can fit that into his budget.
