Young Mexican striker Giovani Dos Santos has seen limited play this season in Catalunya because, in our opinion, head coach Frank Rijkaard has gone bonkers. It’s truly uncertain why Dos Santos hasn’t been given more time since Thierry Henry, Deco and Ronaldinho have been as reliable as an aging donkey. Take a trip to the Grand Canyon and you’ll know what the hell we’re talking about. Dos Santos is set to either put pen to paper on a contract extension, or head towards another club. Whose been linked so far? Of course the team that is virtually linked to everyone.
The forward, one of the best players in Mexican soccer, jumped to Frank Rijkaard’s team during the current season, and settled there thanks to his good performance.
However, he is aware of the renewal of his contract, and several teams have already set their eyes on him, so as to acquire the player once Spain winter market opens. The surprise came when Marca newspaper affirmed that Zahavi held talks with directors of Real Madrid.
When does it become too much for a team like Real Madrid? Are they out to hoard every young striker that Barcelona deems worthy of special attention? They took a stab at Javier Saviola this off season with the mentality of a crazed soccer mom who buys a load of crap because “it’s on sale.” And look how that has turned out for the guy. Will Giovani end up on the bench for a year if he decides to sign? Um, yes. So refrain from Real Madrid’s advances Giovani, unless you want to get to know Michel Salgado really well.
