New Michigan coach Richard Rodriguez isn’t going to be sitting comfortably in his newly appointing position. Apparently his ex-employer, West Virginina, doesn’t trust he’ll pay a buy out clause, so, in the spirit of all that is mighty and American, West Virginia have decided to act like a disgruntled ex-girlfriend.
The buyout clause requires Rodriguez to pay $4 million to WVU over a two-year period, with one-third of the total due 30 days after his employment’s termination. His resignation was effective Dec. 19.
It’s an odd way to distract a coach, but we’re guaranteeing every one of Michigan’s opponents will be sending gift baskets to West Virginia. Seeing $4 million withdrawn out of our bank accounts would distract us quite a bit.
