New York Red Bulls star youngster Jozy Altidore is a regular contributor to the New York Times Soccer blog cleverly named “Goal.” He wrote in last week from China and dispelled absolutely nothing about his links to Spanish giants Real Madrid. And, honestly, that pisses us off quite a bit.
First things first: So many people have been asking me about me jumping to Europe. I have to tell you that my representatives, not the Red Bulls, have told me not to say anything. Actually, I would love to talk about it, but I’ve been told so many times this week not to discuss it. I really don’t know why, but I have to take the advice of my agent.
So why write at all, Jozy? We don’t care about what your agent thinks. We want to know if you’re sporting a BENQ logo next year, or not. Jozy’s loyalty-laced blog post turned into a salutation to none other than Chinese food.
I’ve never been to China so I’m really excited about that. Any time you get to play in a country that loves soccer it’s usually a good atmosphere. It’s a new culture so it should be exciting. What I’m really looking forward to is some authentic Chinese food, I can’t wait to try the real orange chicken and General Tso chicken. Real Chinese takeout!
Translation: “I don’t want to think about soccer for the next week”. We’re recent transplants to New York City, so does that mean he’s looking forward to Tex-Mex? Because that’s the Chinese delivery we’re accustomed to here.

He’ll have a bench role with Madrid, get fed up with it, cry to mama, and then he’ll be back in the purgatory of soccer known as the MLS.
