The last time the Cleveland Cavaliers’ wunderkind LeBron James came off the bench was during the 2004 Olympics. But since coming back from his sprained finger coincided with contract-holdout Anderson Varejo’s return to action, Bron-Bron decided to be a true team captain. Knowing Varejo’s not exactly popular in Cleveland, he chose to go come off the bench with him to show solidarity with “Andy.” Awww… he even called him Andy.

“I thought it would raise the intensity of the fans, having me, Larry and Andy come in at the same time, add it worked,’’ James said. “I thought by coming in with Andy, it might stop the boos Andy might get; just protecting my teammates.”

Yeah, that’s great and all, but it might be stretching the truth a little.

Cleveland coach Mike Brown said he never discussed bringing them in at the same time with LeBron, but who are you going to believe? Duh. We’re going to go with the guy whose face is everywhere because Nike tells us to.
