We’ve been to our share of Dodger games, and while not as scary as leaving the Coliseum circa 1989, 70% of them end with us witnessing some sort of fisticuffs (we blame the hellacious parking lot). But one thing that’s never crossed our paths has been a bout between two ladies. Well, the Dodgers are getting sued because one such incident happened, and it left one of the women blind in one eye. Marta Parra Helenius is asking for $1 million because the team didn’t protect her properly in the parking lot from “unruly fans.” Jesus, we’d be unruly too if we had to pay to see Mark Hendrickson pitch.

The central issue in the Los Angeles County Superior Court lawsuit is whether the Dodgers provided enough security at the ballpark in Chavez Ravine. Marta Parra Helenius, a 31-year-old nurse, claims the team didn’t follow its own rules on how to handle unruly fans, leading to the assault and making her legally blind in one eye.

“The Dodgers failed to follow their own fan code of conduct and their written security procedures, and negligently allowed this assault and battery to happen,” according to Helenius’ lawyer, David R. Glickman.

We’re sure the Dodgers allowed a great pitching staff go to waste, but don’t think they “allowed” her to get hurt. We believe the team goes to great lengths to protect its fans. You can’t come to the game and pay $15 for parking a mile away from the stadium if you’re hurt.
