You’d think it was Beckham’s Monday Mayhem spectacular on this damn site today. Well, it is, so bare with it. The Los Angeles Galaxy released their roster for their Shanghai friendly—which takes place against a youth team comprised mostly of under 20-somethings on March 5th—and Beckham is scheduled to participate for 45 minutes. That’s enough time to break a brief sweat, take off his shirt and wave to the crowd like a Rose Bowl Parade puppet.
Beckham will play just 45 minutes to “avoid injuries” ahead of the start of the Major League Soccer (MLS) season in the United States, the Shanghai Daily said.Captained by the England star, Galaxy will play China’s East Asia, a team of youngsters most of whom are less than 20 years old, the report said.
Galaxy will play it safe with one of the world’s costliest midfielders, who moved from Spanish club Real Madrid, the report said, citing assistant general manager Tom Payne.
This should help out in his “get fit for international games” regiment. At least fans can get their favorite Beckham souvenirs signed…or used. Look out, eBay.
