As the old adage goes, breaking up is hard to do. But we feel that if the other party is as annoyingly clingy as Jessica Simpson seems to be, it shouldn’t be that hard. Unfortunately for Tony Romo, she’s as hard to dump as the zombie diner dead.

Just when it seemed like Jessica Simpson and her quarterback hunk Tony Romo might not go the distance, the two were spotted cavorting together on a seemingly romantic hunting trip over the weekend in Texas.

But now OK! has learned all might not be well just yet as insiders say the trip was a last-ditch effort to save their relationship.

Wow, Texans do it differently, huh? Whenever we’re in relationship trouble, our thoughts go to talking over dinner, not bagging a 12-point buck. Not surprisingly, that weekend of shotguns and stags couldn’t stop the bleeding.

On Jan. 17, Tony called Jessica at her L.A. home to try to break things off. “He said he thought it was better if they went back to being friends,” a pal of the singer tells OK!. “‘Just friends’ is not in Jessica’s vocabulary, and she is not a victim. She knows how bad this will look in the media.”

With all the crap she’s made Tony Romo go through over the past month, it’s time she got a little bit of the bad press. She made T.O cry—that alone should be worth three inches of bad press in Page Six.
