High doses of Adrenaline can cause severe delusions. Take Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic. He just defeated tennis Goliath Roger Federer in a semifinals showdown at the Australian Open. Having set himself up for his first possible grand slam title, Djokovic revealed that his intentions for 2008 were 1) to win a title…and 2) to meet Diego Maradona. After an Argentine journalist presented Djokovic with an autographed Maradona jersey in 2007 (selling his soul to the devil for a jersey AND a grand slam title?), Djokovic has been obsessed with the Argentine dwarf since. Apparently Maradona digs tennis, so this seems like a match made in a fiery hell. The Earth Times reports that Djokovic demanded his press secretary get Maradona to a tournament to watch him play, or else:
“Novak gave me precise instructions to make an appointment with Maradona. He wants to invite him to a tournament and talk to him,” Benito Perez Barbadillo - Djokovic’s press secretary - told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa. However, what Djokovic really wants is to be face to face with Maradona, to talk leisurely for as long as both feel like talking. And in order to do that the former football player received an open invitation to anywhere in the world.
It would not be far-fetched to expect Maradona to accept the offer. The Argentine icon has become a great fan of tennis in recent years, to the point of driving Swedish players almost mad during a Davis Cup tie two years ago in Buenos Aires.
Actually, everyone within 20 feet of Maradona is driven mad. Decades worth of cocaine residue is highly toxic. Look it up and you’ll see. As far as Novak: worry about your amazing run to a grand slam title and THEN disclose you want a date with the devil. Good Friday, everyone.
