Traditional jersey swapping after soccer games can be gross. And sometimes it can be ugly. Remember Zidane? Other times it can be comical. Especially when more than one player fiends for the opportunity to own a piece of memoabilia from a rising star and a tug-of-war ensues over who’ll own the thing. The scene of grown professionals frothing at the mouth over a sweat-drenched, potent garb from a super star is freakin’ hilarious. Reading midfielder Graeme Murty exemplified this when he exchanged jerseys this weekend with hooker-toting Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo, but came to find that someone had stolen his prize.

The Manchester United star gave his sweat-stained No 7 top to Murty at the end of his side’s hard-fought 2-0 win at the Madejski Stadium, with the Royals skipper hanging it on his dressing room peg while he took a shower.

But when he returned, the shirt was gone — prompting some choice words from the Scotland international: “Someone’s had it away and when I find out who it is, it’s going to be bloody,” he vowed. “It’s either a player, an apprentice or a member of staff but when I find out who it is there are going to be broken legs.

Murty finally found the culprit—teammate Stephen Hunt—and went back to knitting and baking cookies for his mom.
