Why Is It News That Plaxico Burress Wants To Win?

We’re a bit flummoxed as to why there’s been hype over New York Giants wide receiver and loud mouth Plaxico Burress’ latest comment that his team, the one in the Super Bowl that isn’t the Patriots, would win the game. Arguably, this is the most important game in the history of games, (except women’s freestyle diving finals. Shit is hella amazing.), so why scorn the confidence? What perturbed coach Tom Coughlin so much was the outright prediction of the game’s score that wound his panties into a cluster. We admit, 23-17 is at the zenith of the absurdity totem pole. Something along the lines of 35-31 or 42-38 would have sufficed. The predicition would have been a credible one. Yet, setting that aside, Plaxico was stating what every underdog in the history of underdogs states. Teammate Michael Strahan’s, who weighed in on the matter, said it best.

After 15 years of dealing with the New York media, seven-time Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Strahan wondered what all the fuss was about. “Now, you ask a question of ‘Do you think you are going to win the game?”’ Strahan said. “What am I supposed to say ‘No, we are going to lose the game’? No, I think we are going to win the game just like they think they are going to win the game. No one comes here thinking that you are not going to be victorious.”

Only corrupt boxers and Italian soccer players go into a game wanting to lose. Keep talking Plaxico. We’ve got daily quotas to fill your back.
