Three minutes. That’s how long AC Milan’s Ronaldo (the chubby, Brazilian one) was in the game yesterday against Livorno before his knee buckled underneath him and caused him to crumple to the ground like a sack of bricks, effectively ending his season, and possibly his career. We’re going to go with the latter being that this quote was made.
“I heard a horrible sound, like a bang, it was a strange sound,” said Livorno goalkeeper Marco Amelia, who was close by when Ronaldo fell to the ground.
It’s not good for you knee to make a sound usually used to describe a gunshot or a car backfiring. Luckily for Ronaldo, who’s in the last season of his contract, his coach is more optimistic. We just think he’s happy because he no longer has to deal with the albatross known as Ronaldo’s giant contract and waistline.
Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti refused to call time on Ronaldo’s career.
“From our part all we can do is stand by him and let him recover. Our players all left the stadium in a hurry to go to the hospital to check on his condition, I think that’s the right way to stand by a player who’s suffering.”
The injury drum beats on and on for Ronaldo, but at least he’ll have Joga Bonito videos to remind him of better days.
