We’re not sure how to phrase this without being a bit insensitive, but the British Olympic Committee is comprised of a bunch of pansies. Okay. There. We said it. Apparently the BOC is forcing athletes participating in the 2008 Beijing Olympics to sign a contract that binds them from criticizing everything that’s basically inhumane and fucked up in China.
The controversial clause has been inserted into athletes’ contracts for the first time and forbids them from making any political comment about countries staging the Olympic Games. It is contained in a 32-page document that will be presented to all those who reach the qualifying standard and are chosen for the team.
We could speculate and assume that the Brits will speak through their actions by stealing the throne at the podium more times than the Chinese, but that won’t happen. The Chinese will take around 1000 medals. The stats say so. So what are the consequences if a British athlete pulls a Muhammad Ali?
Should a competitor agree to the clause but then speak their mind about China, they will be put on the next plane home.
Hey Brits. We’ve got two words: Jesse Owens.
