Colorado Avid Golfer decided to spice up their recent magazine issue by depicting Lorena Ochoa as the hippest Catholic in Mexico. The spread showcased a lurid photo of Lorena Ochoa’s face embedded onto an iconic image of the “Virgen de Guadalupe.” The title of the piece read “Our Lady of Guadalajara”, so of course a blasphemous photo of the most revered religious icon—next to Jesus Christ—is the most fitting way to depict the number one women’s golfer in the world.

“[The reference] is something that took me by surprise. I haven’t had an opportunity to see the picture. It’s something very delicate”, said [Ochoa], whom also stated she devotes time to the Virgin Mary by praying in the morning and at night.”

Ochoa stated that in order to give an opinion, “I would have to see the publication, but hopefully it’s not misinterpreted because we need to respect the Virgin Mary and all Catholics.”

That’s like putting David Beckham’s face on the Hollywood sign. They could have put her face on someone, like, um, Salma Hayek. Yeah. Nice.

When it comes to Lorena Ochoa, all we really want to see is a Tiger Woods/Lorena Ochoa matchup a la’ Billy Jean Kings and Bobby Riggs in 73’. Ochoa will have Catholics on her side and Tiger will have everyone who thought Kelly Tilghman’s comments last month were stupid on his side. Amen.
