If Mexican fans have been searching for answers as to why the Mexican national team has nil wins this decade against the United States, well look no more. Some chief psychologist named Jose Gonzalez from some Institution of Psychologists that obviously love soccer, has disclosed that Mexico is suffering from two things: lack of leadership and an inferiority complex.
“Before, Mexico would win because [the United States] wouldn’t be prepared. But now, no one on the [Mexican national team] wants to be a hero because that implies responsibility and excelling, which then generates envy,” explained the specialist.
When did steering the ship ever warrant envy? It’s an interesting argument considering Mexico has neither won in the US this decade, or a World Cup, so basically all Mexico’s national team needs is a guy with enough cojones to guide the team. We’re immediately ruling out “Bofo” because he has no cojones. Unfortunately, the diagnosis for Mexico is dire and terminal.
“We’re a conquered country with little value in our eyes; in the presence of foreigners we assume the role of the conquered. It is something that the players experience unconsciously.
Honestly, this explains so much about why “Bofo” dies his hair blond and why Rafa Marquez loves to play in Spain, but how does this help Mexico win? At least now they’ll know that dudes who start crying when they see a foreigner should immediately be cut.

So how do the Salvis fit into all of this?

Mexico can’t win because they don’t have a coach that can instill leadership. The quality is there, but the coaches have always been stanky. I don’t even know if that’s a word but im using it.

And this is somehow a something surprising? I guess the good doctor had to read El Laberinto de la Soledad to figure that out. It’s at the heart of all Tri-related drama. Los titulares haven’t exactly taken Zapata’s lesson about which way to live and die very seriously.
Being a fan of El Tri is like being a Boston Red Sox fan pre-2004:
The sense of being cursed by a bigger more illustrious neighbor that you have ill feelings and misgivings about, but whose power and success you secretly admire? Check.
The repeated agony of being a lover spurned by many close calls and near-miraculous games that spectacularly blow up in the teams faces? Two super-check.
What’s at stake here is not that El Tri’s are envious and risk-averse for fear of being singled out as Bill Buckner-esque pretty boys, but that they channel the envy and make it work to their advantage where they ACTUALLY WANT TO WIN.

Why cant the CONCACAF have two strong teams representing in the World Cup? people just hate that the US got really good really fast.

@latinogamer: word. CONCACAF needs to be stronger, period. Or, maybe CONCACAF and CONMEBOL should just merge and adopt a European-style system that would still guarantee the combined number of seeds pre-merger in the World Cup. It would allow the smaller teams in both confederations to be more competitive and vie for much-cherished slots.
