Spanish basketball star Pau Gasol will make his much-anticipated debut for the Los Angeles Lakers tonight in New Jersey. After tonight, Jason Kidd will probably slip Kobe a lover-letter pleading to him to convince Mitch Kupchak to throw a couple million his way. And at 34, it would be just a couple.

As for Gasol, it’ll be the first time we get to thoroughly analyze what the Lakers new front can do. It’s great to speculate, but as the adage goes, “seeing is believing…” if the Lakers Western threat truly escalated to the state of “Red Hot.” San Antonio will be in Indiana tonight, but the Phoenix Suns will be home resting, watching and quivering at the sight of the newest Lakers’ threat. Remember to count Steve Nash out because he’ll be busy evaluating the state of his sanity.
