Now that the league has had a week to digest the Pau Gasol trade—and have the shock it created worn off by the Shaq deal—some people outside of the blogosphere and newspaper game are now calling out Memphis for giving up so much for so little. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, whose team now has to face the Gasol and Kobe-led Lakers, is one of them. He’s so pissed that the trade went through, he’s having fantasies about creating committees. Man, these coaches are freaking weird.
“What they did in Memphis is beyond comprehension,” said Popovich. “There should be a trade committee that can scratch all trades that make no sense.”
Oh really, and who would be on that committee?
“I just wish I had been on a trade committee that oversees NBA trades. I’d like to elect myself to that committee. I would have voted no to the L.A. trade.”
Oh jeez, a guy wins three NBA titles and all of a sudden he becomes a fascist. What’s next? Making sure the TV time-outs run on time?
