How do we know Charles Barkley’s a degenerate gambler? Because he speaks about losing money in betting line-hypotheticals. Here he tells Jim Rome that he lost $400 K on the Super Bowl because he listened to the “pundits” on ESPN and switched teams. But in reality, he only lost $100K, but if he had bet on the Giants like he was supposed to, he would’ve won those $400K because of the 4-to-1 odds laid against them. And if you wonder why most heavy gamblers are also alcoholics, it’s because they have seventeen sets of numbers like that going through their heads at any given time, and they’re trying to make them go away.
Charles Barkley drops “about $400,000” $100k on the Super Bowl [The 700 Level]

This is kind of like how when I talk about drinking I say “I had a bottle of bourbon for lunch,” when I really mean “I had a half of scotch for breakfast.” Or something.
