If you ask even the average, semi-interested basketball fan what they look for during the NBA’s All-Star weekend, it’s the dunks (us? Vanessa Bryant sightings). But are gone the days when high flyers like Kenny ‘Sky’ Walker, Dominique Wilkins and his Air-ness Michael Jordan would practice their dunks in secret for the Dunk competition? Thanks to Memphis’ Rudy Gay, they might. He’s on YouTube looking for people to send him ideas for dunks. Isn’t that how FOX gets most of their show ideas?
The Memphis Grizzlies swingman has posted his request on the video sharing site You Tube, asking dunkers around the world to submit their best throw-down. Gay plans to emulate the best of those dunks at the contest.
Gay had two requests of his You Tube audience: Don’t do anything unsafe, and no props.”They have to perform dunks I can do,” Gay said Tuesday on ESPN First Take.
Safe and without props? So he’s not only going to steal bits, but gonna be a wuss about it, too? Hey, but at least Carlos Mencia’s found his new favorite ball player.
