Albert Pujols Proves Why Your Fantasy Baseball Draft Shouldn't Be Before March

St. Louis Cardinals’ super-slugger Albert Pujols must not like the people of St. Louis. He recently got the bad news that his elbow has a “high-grade” tear in its ligaments—along with bone spurs, inflammation and arthritis in the joint. But Pujols decided against Tommy John surgery that would’ve shelved him for the year for now because… well, we don’t know why. He’s either a nihilist or on a macho trip, and considering his thoughts on the matter, we’re going with a little from column A, a little from column B.

When he reported to camp, Pujols said he will not change his routine as he prepares for Opening Day.
“If it blows out it’s going to blow out,” Pujols said. “You can’t control that.”
He said he didn’t want to just have the arthroscopic surgery.
“It didn’t make sense having the surgery and just clean it up, when cleaning it up it wasn’t going to make it good,” Pujols said.

Oh, you think so doctor? Good luck with that. We wouldn’t stand too close to the plate this season unless you want a brush back fastball accidentally hitting your elbow to make that surgery a lot more sense than it does now.
