Evo Morales is an inspiration to us. Besides being an outspoken proponent of coca leaves, which are an indigenous Bolivian staple, he’s also a soccer aficionado who’s willing to strap on the boots. Last month we reported that he’d joined Litoral, a second division team that needed a determined, Hugo Chavez befriending midfielder to get them back to the promised land of first division ball. Well guess what? Evo Morales kind of rocks.
The 47-year-old Morales wore the No. 10 jersey traditionally reserved for a team’s playmaker and failed to score during 41 minutes of action. But his Litoral team defeated Deportivo Municipal 4-1. Police officers cheered Morales from the stands.
“…With their guns pointed towards the stands ready to fire upon any Judas that was cheering against Morales and his Litoral team.” That’s the portrait we envision, anyway.
This isn’t video of Morales this weekend, but check him out rocking the shinguards outside of the socks.
If anyone has video from this weekend, hook it up yo!
