The Miami Heat Hold Telethon For The Disaster Known As The Miami Heat

heat_dancers.jpg

For us, celebrities answering phones during telethons got played out after Ken Burns yelled at someone during an ‘06 PBS pledge drive for his Baseball documentary. So when we heard the Miami Heat were having members of their basketball team and dance team answer phones last night to talk to season ticket buyers, we were less than enthusiastic. We’d rather pay $100 for the Baseball box set and get yelled at by Burns than pay thousands to watch a 13-62 team for a whole season—and no, the chance to possibly talk to Dorell Wright doesn’t make us waiver.

In an effort to generate buzz for HEAT Season Tickets, all HEAT players listed as inactive for tonight’s game will join HEAT Season Ticket Sales operators during halftime of the New Orleans Hornets versus Miami HEAT game being held Wednesday, April 2. The HEAT players, along with the HEAT Dancers, will be standing by awaiting calls to assist with the purchasing of new HEAT Season Tickets.
Potential HEAT Season Ticket Holders will have the rare opportunity to speak with HEAT players Marcus Banks, Udonis Haslem, Shawn Marion, Alonzo Mourning, Dwyane Wade, Jason Williams and Dorell Wright*, as well as members of the “Most Popular Dance Team in the NBA,” the Miami HEAT Dancers.

First off, it’s of no use totalk to the Miami Heat Dancers because they’re more of a visual lure. Secondly, we can’t wait for the first time Shaq hacks a call to tell a potential Heat ticket buyer how much the team sucks. He’s deputized in about 60 counties across the US now—we’re pretty sure he can do that under the Patriot Act.

Can we bid on the Miami Heat girls? If not, what’s the point?
