What in the wide world of sports is going on with the state of the fan today? Yesterday, the NFL commissioner wanted to neuter the fans in the stands via a “conduct policy.” Now comes word from the Chicago Cubs that they are cracking down on the taunts in the left field bleachers that have been raining down on Alfonso Soriano because he’s been sucki… um, lacking quality plays. Is that okay to say?
[A] Cubs official offered protection for Soriano, instructing left-field bleacherites before Monday’s game that any profane or inappropriate comments made toward Soriano would result in their immediate ejection.
“If someone was overstepping their bounds, we would quickly correct the problem,” a Cubs spokesperson said, adding there were no problems.
Of course. It’s hard to complain or cause problems when security guards start to knock stadium patron’s teeth out. Gooooosh.
