Ok, dudes. We’re moments away from the commencement of the greatest club tournament in the world. Yes, Copa Libertadres. We love you, too. But, we spend 10 1/2 months, or however long this tourney really is (if you count qualifying rounds) hoping, praying, grunting, shouting and cheering on the Champions League. Yet, we’re distracted from the Heineken commercials with news that this may be Cristiano Ronaldo’s final game as a Red.

Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo would reportedly welcome a transfer to Real Madrid. Spanish sports daily Marca said Wednesday that Ronaldo had “very recently” communicated his desire to join the club, obliging United to hold transfer negotiations with Madrid.

The paper cited “authorized club sources.” It added that Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has held talks with Madrid’s sports director Predrag Mijatovic in Moscow ahead of United’s Champions League final with Chelsea. Showing a photo of the smiling player, the paper carried the front-page headline: “Cristiano says “Yes, I do.” In a reference to United’s desire to keep its star player, it added: “But Manchester replies: No, I don’t.”

And then everyone broke out into a “lero lero, lero lero.” Why even bother with all of this when he’s about to score two goals and play a part in one assist for Manchester United tonight?
