While some of our fantasy teams have been enjoying the Tigers’ Carlos Guillen’s fine season, he’s actually having a tough go of late. That’s because according to his coach, Jim Leyland, the third baseman has been dealing with hemorrhoids so bad it’s causing him to make errors, including two on Monday. On top of that, it sounds like they’re going to have to use some medieval technique to take care of them. Which would honestly make any man take his eye off the ball.
“He can hardly move — he’s got hemorrhoids so bad,” Tigers manager Jim Leyland said Tuesday. “He’s been playing with hemorrhoids that probably need to be lanced. He probably shouldn’t have been out there (third base on Monday).”
Uh, thanks coach? Anything else you want to add?
Leyland said the hemorrhoids have been bothering Guillen for about four or five days, but they have gotten worse in the last few days. “He could hardly walk (Monday night),” Leyland said.
We never thought we’d say it, but sometimes we prefer when coaches like Bill Belichick hold things back on their weekly injury reports.
