Why any really old boxer would want to come out of retirement after years of asbsence is baffling. But don’t tell Julio Cesar Chavez that he’s too old to fight. Just tell him he’s an idiot. 49 year old Azumah Nelson had been reached by Chavez a few months back with an offer to fight if Nelson beat another old-timer by the name of Jeff Fenech (44). Look, fellas. The last “Rocky” movie was scripted. It wasn’t real.
Nelson told Ghana web that it was Chavez who approached him for a fight a few months ago and because he was in poor physical shape, he turned the Mexican legend down. If he performs well against Fenech, he would like to accept Chavez’s offer. It was Chavez who proposed the fight some few months back, but I wasn’t in the best of shape so I declined his request,” said Nelson. “Regular visits to the gym places me in a better position to face any challenge that lies ahead. I am in constant touch with Chavez to make the dream fight come true.”
And can we guess that Chavez Jr. will be the undercard bout? Chavez is crossing his fingers because he really needs the money if he’s willing to dust off three years of rust to fight a 49 year old.

And then the winner can face off with Oscar De La Hoya after he retires too.
