We Can Only Hope A Giant Robotic Drew Brees Saves The NFL In England

We always thought the English had an affinity for fast sports like soccer, racing and tossing blood pudding after a night of drinking. So what are they doing snapping up tickets for the next NFL regular season game in London after last year’s abysmal showing between the New York Giants and Miami Dolphins? The only exciting thing about that whole rainy ordeal was the 90-foot robotic Jason Taylor that towered over the city like Godzilla fiending for a Guinness. But apparently the British didn’t mind the soggy affair because the first 40,000 seats for the Saints-Chargers match-up went in the first 90 minutes. The Coupling marathon must have been pushed back to later in the year.l

NFL UK said the pace of ticket sales matched that of last year’s game between the Miami Dolphins and the New York Giants, which was the first regular season NFL game to be staged outside North America.
“We are delighted to report the overwhelming interest in this year’s game,” said Alistair Kirkwood, Managing Director of NFL UK. “This proves that our event is one of the most eagerly awaited in the British sports calendar.”

Yes, it’s firmly placed somewhere between a Tottenham-Portsmouth game and the World Quidditch Championships.
