Since a single trip to the gas station can now easily cost more than $50, it’s good to see people developing alternative fuels. Take this guy, a Florida resident who says he gets 100 miles to the gallon using water. Yes, water. You just know Exxon Mobil is somewhere figuring out how to sabotage his work.
Though the system isn’t entirely water-based—“right now, it uses a little bit of gas,” inventor Anthony Brown says—you’d be hard pressed to find a cheaper way to run your car this summer. (Not that it’s available commercially, but whatever.) And since it essentially runs on water, he’s doing the environment a favor. He’s also doing his favorite charity a favor, which can only be taken as good news.
Come to think of it, this story totally reminds me of that one guy who developed a completely water-powered car a few years ago. Afterward, he mysteriously disappeared.
Let that be a lesson to you: you’ll pay $4 a gallon and give thanks for the privilege.
