Re-live The Rolleiflex, Now Miniturized And Digital

rolleiflex.jpg

Non-camera buffs, this oddball device is actually a digital camera, and a pricey one at that at around $330. If it looks familiar, that’s because it’s a replica of the old school Rolleiflex, a German camera that was ahead of its time. This one’s digital, though, so no having to futz around in a dark room or take “film” to a photo hut for development.

The stats are about what you’d expect from a pocket-sized point-and-shoot. The sensor clocks in at 5 megapixels, and the LCD is 1.1 inches. No, nothing like today’s fancy pants digital SLRs, but it’s also something like half the price of even the lowest end Canon dSLR.

And let’s be honest for a minute: you’re buying this for its looks, not to snag photos of Nereida at a club (NSFW) to sell to the Getty or anything. Though that doesn’t sound like a bad gig at all.
