It’s not a good sign when you collapse right before a round is about to commence. Boxer Oscar Diaz did just that when he went down for the count yesterday during a fight against fellow pugilist Delvin Rodriguez.

In a bout for the USBA welterweight title, Diaz rose from his stool to begin the 11th round but became wobbly and crashed to the canvas.

Referee Robert Gonzalez immediately signaled for the bell, halting the bout, and medical personnel rushed into the ring to attend to the 25-year-old.

‘He was breathing and he has a blood pressure,’ ringside physician Dr. Wayne Lee told the San Antonio Express News. ‘But he was not responding to our commands.’

This is the moment when we push threw the carpel-tunnel pain because we feel like a wuss after reading this.

“They had to remove the left side of his cranium in order to help the swelling go down, which apparently was very bad,” Katz said. “He had a subdural hematoma [bleeding on the brain], which was taken care of. During surgery, he apparently showed movement in his arms and his brain pressure was very good, according to the doctor.”

That’s right. Medical personnel in the 21st century have the skill to take off a piece of your skull in order to allow your brain to breath. Remember the days when they had to put mirrors up against “dead” people’s mouths in order to find if they were really dead? Yeah. We don’t either. But that’s what books say. Thank them doctors for the rest of your life, Oscar. And quit boxing bro.
