Let’s take an Olympics-boobie-hot girls break for a second in order to bring you news that the Galaxy have finally axed GM Alexi Lalas. In another move, coach Ruud Gullit resigned due to “personal reasons”, which means he can’t understand why the hell the Galaxy have gone seven straight games without a win, while harboring a healthy David Beckham.

In its official statement on the changes, AEG, which owns the team, said that Gullit had resigned “for personal reasons” and that Lalas’ contract was up at the end of the year and that the team decided to part company now rather than wait.

Longtime player and current assistant coach Cobi Jones will take over as interim head coach until the Galaxy figure out what they’re aiming for. After David Beckham’s arrival, the team’s direction shifted more towards championship marketing tactics than winning games, so this sudden news isn’t as unexpected as people might think. Now, can we stop telling American fans that David Beckham, or any other high-profile foreign player, is going to change American soccer?
