Jose María Manzanares may have evaded serious injury throughout his career as a well-known matador, but he couldn’t evade the roaring lash of the judicial system. After pummeling a gas station owner last year and giving the guy stitches, Manzanares has been sentenced to one year in jail for acting like a pompous asshole.

The judge considered the facts and proved that the bullfighter, accompanied by his girlfriend, acceded to the front of the line in his Porsche without regard to his turn. At that moment, the owner of the gas station made his way to Manzanares vehicle to question what he’d just done, but couldn’t be heard because of the car wash.

By the time [Manzanares] approached the drying part of the car wash, the owner approached the car again and Manzanares stepped out of his car. After various insults, [Manzanares] punched the owner in the face, leaving him with a gash.

At least he didn’t have his picadores there to help him or else that owner would have been skewered like a shish kebab and his ears handed out to onlookers. Geez, bullfighting is all sorts of crazy!
