The internet is full of wonderful deterrents that can string you along throughout and entire workday without you so much as moving your butt from your desk. Sure, porn is probably the biggest culprit for inducing procrastination, but there was also Scrabulous. And there was also the “turn any name into a Brazilian soccer name” time-waster and then the soccer manager game as well. But, what if you could challenge homeboy at the office who always takes the last glazed donut to a Guitar-Hero-like duel online? Rockstar gets the last freakin’ glazed donut or settles for the dried out concha!
On the JamLegend site, registered players will be able to compete for free in a Guitar Hero-style game using either their computer keyboard or an optional guitar-shaped controller. The site should provide fertile ground for competition between friends and strangers alike by ranking players and allowing them to issue challenges to each other. JamLegend is still in private beta, but co-founder Arjan Lall confirmed that the site’s free beta will launch “in a few weeks.”
Oh yeah. In a few weeks, you’ll be able to challenge anyone to an online strum-fest. Just be careful. Rocking “Stairway to Heaven” after lunch will give you chorro. In the meantime, rock out on this Guitar-Hero III mini-game and check out the JamLegend trailer.
