This is just unforgivable. There’s only one nation that has conquered the US Women’s Soccer team since 2000 and it’s Norway. Well guess what? The Scandanavian ladies rocked the US with a stunning 2-0 defeat to take the first game in Group G. The US is favored to take home the gold, but this is obviously not the start they wanted.
The Norwegians earned the upset with a pair of quick goals as Leni Larsen Kaurin struck in the second minute, while fellow forward Melissa Wiik added a second goal less than two minutes later.“We are satisfied,” Norway coach Bjarne Berntsen said. “We are very grateful for the tremendous start we had in this game.
“After the great start, I think we played a very, very good defensive game, and there were very few big chances for the United States.”
That’s it. Can we get Mia Hamm to stop massaging Nomar Garciaparra’s knee and get her into a kit asap? We need gold, ladies. Gold!
