Will The NFL Expand Its Regular Season? The Shiny Dome Of Robert Kraft Says Yes

Have you ever been to an NFL pre-season game? It’s sort of like a fire drill where everyone around you is half-assing it down the stairs and meandering around once they get outside—and that’s just the players. Well, according to New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft (seen here showing his Super Bowl ring to Vladamir Putin, which Putin never gave back), some of the four yearly pre-season NFL games will become regular season games. Is it because their fans are sick of paying full price for third string products? Of course not, silly. It’s so the billionaire owners can sell the networks one or two more regular season weeks and make more money that they feel the players are taking too much of. You know, they guys putting the product on the field. Greedy bastids.

“We have to grow the pie; the biggest way of quickly growing the pie is in the media area,” Kraft said. “The feeling is that we would get greater revenue for media if we had more regular-season games.
“Now, you’d have to balance that with the need that coaches have to develop and get a team ready to play. Could it be two preseason games, or three? I personally wouldn’t be adverse to either one.”

It has to be eighteen games, because an odd-numbered season would cause a whole other set of logistical nightmares in regards to who gets an extra home game. That is, of course, unless they want to bring a little knife play between owners or players into making the decision if they go seventeen. Actually, scratch that. We shouldn’t give the owners ideas for new financial streams. As sick as it is, we know we’d rather watch two owners beat each other with bats for home field advantage than a Dolphins-Bills game in December.
