Would You Trust Spray-On Jimmy Hats?

Do you remember the time in your life when you stopped using condoms as water balloons and had to start using them for real? Well, Germany’s Peter Krause does, and he wants to make it a lot easier for condom novices to get the right fit. That’s why he created the spray on condom, which he totally doesn’t properly sell in an interview with Time. Seriously, if you’re going to talk about our wieners, don’t bring up hot wax and a guy best known for making things go boom with a paper clip and aerosol can.

Inspired by the mechanics of a drive-through car wash, the German sexual-health educator designed a custom-fitting male contraceptive using liquid latex and some materials from a hardware store. “I felt a little like MacGyver,” he says of building the contraption.
The prototype, which began testing last year, consists of a hard plastic tube with nozzles that spray liquid latex from all directions, much like the water jets in the tunnel of a car wash. According to Krause, there are numerous advantages to his spray-on condom. “The condom fits 100% perfectly, so the safety is much higher than a standard condom’s, and it feels more natural.”

Look, while it’s admirable what you’re doing Mr. Krause, a rubber’s always going to be a rubber. It doesn’t matter if it’s sprayed on or molded, it’s never going to feel natural. Plus, we feel your way to clean up would be a little… um… messier than a regular condom, and our partners already hate us enough for leaving crumbs in the bed.
