When Andre Ethier isn’t helping the Dodgers climb the standings in the NL West, he’s eating food out and about in Los Angeles. And he’s writing about. His MLB blog, ‘Dining With Dre’, has now been profiled on the Wall Street Journal and it’s only matter of time until he makes some guest appearances with Anthony bourdain on the Travel Channel and drinking moonshine somewhere in Laos. So, how well does Andre know LA’s culinary scene?
Mr. Ethier knows where to find the best throat-meat tacos in Los Angeles, the juiciest Salvadoran papusas (sic) and the city’s tastiest Romanian chicken stew. He waxes poetic about the pinto beans in his native Arizona, where they’re often pureed with cream and lard. “Here they want you to taste the bean, not the lard, which is… different.”
Wait, people don’t like the taste of lard in their beans in AZ? Ama, te dije!. But seriously, where does one find good throat-meat tacos in Los Angeles? And if he says “Tito’s Tacos” on Sepulveda in Culver City, we’ll boycott Andre forever. Everyone knows the best tacos are on Alvarado and Sunset in front of the Ralph’s. If you don’t know, now you know. And we’re disappionted with The Wall Street Journal’s spelling of “pupusas.” Seriously. PApusas? No mames.
