Another Place To Watch TV, Movies Legally: IMDb (Say Thanks To Amazon)

imdbvideos.jpg

Amazon bought IMDb—who doesn’t waste time there?—not too long ago, and now the benefits to regular consumers are being felt. Starting today, you’re able to watch full-length movies, TV shows and other videos on IMDb, totally for free and without having to worry about the MPAA or some TV network sending your ISP a threatening letter.

If you’re thinking that you’d only be able to watch junk shows or whatever, you’re actually in for a pleasant surprise. Shows like 24, The Office and Star Trek (not our cup of tea, but it’s a big show) are all on the service. Movies seem to be a little more limited—color us confused if your idea of a good movie is Bring It On.

Then there’s the usual assortment of indie movies that we’ve never heard of, but that’s to be expected. Maybe there’s a hidden gem or two in there?

In broader terms, it’s pretty heartening to see more and more legal avenues to view content online pop up. It wasn’t too long ago (and it’s still sorta the case) that these companies were freaking out at the prospect of putting their shows and movies anywhere but the TV and big screen.

And when you consider that YouTube just isn’t what it used to be, that is, pre-“this video is no longer available,” it’s absolutely useful to have another source of amazing Jack Bauer clips.
