There’s still two full months left until November 4th and the US presidential elections, but Barack Obama may be involved, involuntarily, in a race he’s definitely a longshot to win. West Ham United are currently seeking a new coach and one bookie decided to accept a bet from a businessman who wanted to put down $20 on Barack Obama accepting the job as West Ham coach. Is today absurdity day, o que?
The Independent claim that bookmaker William Hill have accepted a £10 bet from a London-based businessman who has taken the 10,000-1 long-shot that Barack Obama has been lined up by West Ham United chiefs as Alan Curbishley’s replacement.
Obama has admitted in the past to being a fan of the Hammers, but has never explicitly said he would consider managing the troubled side. Graham Sharpe, William Hill spokesperson, told the Independent: “We offered 10,000-1 as he [Obama] is probably more concerned with winning a higher profile job for himself… But if he loses out on that one and the position is still up for grabs, you never know.”
If Barack says yes, then the guy wins 200,000. And if he says “no”, then at least the bookie got his name in the paper and $20. That means everyone wins!
