Oh Curt Schilling. When the hell are you going to shut your self-righteous yap up? Not anytime soon seeing as everyone outside of Schilling’s approval is subject to abject persecution and berating. Because the man that bled through a sock during the World Series is a fucking hero dammit! A hero! So when guys like Manny Ramirez don’t live up to his standards then it’s all for shit.
“I was a teammate, a member of this family, and I saw it,” Schilling said after acknowledging that he has been away from the team most of the season because of a shoulder injury. “And to me, it was always those guys, the guys who played a crucial role on teams that weren’t the marquee players, are the ones that were disrespected the most.”
You know, we can’t commend Manny’s behavior, but why the ruffling of feathers now? The guy is in another league, he wanted to get the hell out of BoSox town (who really blames him?) and he’s managed to succeed in a new city. Maybe Schilling should scold management for holding onto a player who wanted to leave two years prior, but couldn’t because the Sox didn’t want to lose $40 million. Just imagine if the Arizona Diamondbacks said “no” to a Schilling trade to the Sox.
