In this economy, it’s hard to find someone who doesn’t have an acquaintance that’s been recently booted out of his or her job. But what you don’t find are those same booted people trying to burn their former place of employment down, or else this country would look like one big California wildfire. Enter Brian Butcher, a former high school football coach in Los Gatos, CA who decided to get back at the school who fired him a year earlier by burning it down last night. Police were called to the scene and found the gym floor broken into and Butcher with a lot of “flammable material” in his car, which was parked on the school’s front lawn. Considering he’s been out of work for a year, we’re going to say he went with paint thinner and not gas. That stuff’s expensive.
Officers found that the glass door to the gym had been smashed by a shot put, [Sgt. Randy Rimple of the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno police] said. They also found Butcher driving a vehicle on the front lawn of the campus, police said. Butcher had flammable materials in his possession, Rimple said. He declined to elaborate, saying the investigation was continuing.
Unless he was about to burn “You Suck” in 10-foot high letters on the front lawn, we don’t think this investigation’s going to continue much longer.
