He-So-Totally-Cheated Floyd Landis Is Also Coming Back To Cycling

Looks like Lance Armstrong started a trend. After revealing his own comeback from a three-year layoff, a break-up with his fiancee, and a rendezvous with an Olsen twin (gross…so gross), Lance Armstrong’s comeback news seems to have rubbed off on another cyclist: Floyd Landis. The 2006 winner of the Tour de France cheated his way to victory somewhere along the 17th stage of that year’s race when he managed to catapult himself to a miraculous and super-human finish in the race, only to be tested for doping, failing and having his title stripped. But, shit. That’s not gonna keep him down!

Landis’ suspension ends Jan. 30, 2009 and it’s no surprise that the 32-year-old cyclist intends to come back. Since his positive test rocked the cycling world in 2006, he has been on the sideline, fighting and losing the case at every level, trying to make ends meet and seeking a return.

Landis served as an adviser for Rock Racing, but rumors that he might race for the team never panned out.

The news of Landis’ intent to return comes on the heels of Lance Armstrong’s announcement that he plans to race in the 2009 Tour de France. Armstrong, who won the Tour seven straight times before Landis took the title in 2006, said racing last month in the Leadville 100 in Colorado “totally kick-started my engine.”

The team is one sponsored by Momentum Sports Group which obviously wants to kick-start a new array of controversies in cycling. Because the sport truly needs it.
